Best Job Ever

beerLONDON (Reuters) – Found: drinking companions to join elderly gentleman for a friendly beer at his local pub.
Mike Hammond was bombarded with offers after advertising in his village post office for someone to accompany his 88-year-old father Jack on visits to a southern England pub from a nursing home.
He offered the lucky winner 7 pounds ($14) an hour plus expenses and, after sifting through the applicants, decided on a job-share. Drinking duties are to be divided between a retired doctor and a former military man.
“Dad’s now going to be going down to the pub several times a week — three with his new friends and twice with me,” Mike Hammond told The Times on Thursday. “I want to give him some of his old life back.”

Ram-bo

This hapless sheep has become a real life ‘ram-bo’ after inadvertently abseiling down a hill when its horn became snagged on an electricity wire.
The unfortunate sheep was spotted bleating for help more than 15 feet above the ground next to an telegraph pole.
Amazed onlookers watched the ram descend from a grazing pasture – apparently accidentally – while dangling from a live wire.

Luckily he did not catch the current from the wire.
The drama unravelled at the small town of Helgoysund on the Norwegian coast on Wednesday.
Tourists at the scene mounted a rescue attempt and eventually roped him to pull him back to ground level in little over an hour.
Bemused spectators suggested he may have been trying to take the fast route down to a herd of ewes grazing in the field below.

Marita Vestersjo Landsnes, aged 13, caught the calamity on her camera phone. The schoolgirl said she couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the sheep sliding down the live wire.
Her dad Geir Landsnes, 45, also watched the dramatic events unfold. He said Marita would never to go out without a camera again.
He said: ‘As a reward for his embarrassing predicament we helped him to achieve his quest by allowing him access to the ladies.
‘My wife saw something surreal from the kitchen window and realised it was the sheep hanging five to six metres off the ground from the wire by its horn and called me straight away, asking what to do.
‘I asked my daughter Marita to photograph the rescue operation so I could see the images of what had happened.
‘Marita is so proud that her images and I’ve encouraged her not to leave the house without her camera.’
The sheep had been grazing on the hill. He had got his horn stuck on the zip wire and as he got more agitated, was pulled down the hill on the wire he was attached to and ended more than up five metres above the ground.
The German tourists were in the area because the Landsnes family, alongside the sheep farm, run a small vacation place on the Norwegian island.
The sheep escaped unharmed.

the Most Expensive Tea

World’s Most Expensive Tea it will be Panda Poop

Just as the world's fanciest coffee is made from the partially digested coffee beans plucked from a Filipino tree rodent's poop, the world's fanciest tea will soon be created from the dung of panda bears.
Wildlife expert An Yashi is launching the special blend of green tea, which could cost up to $36,000 per pound, Australia’s SBC.com reported.
Yashi, a college lecturer at Sinchuan University, said using panda excrement to fertilize the tea plants has a health-promoting upside because it contains nutrients from one of the bear’s favorite meals — bamboo.
“Pandas have a very poor digestive system and only absorb about 30 percent of everything they eat: that means their excrement is rich in fibers and nutrients,” said Yashi, noting that those nutrients make their way into the tea through the fertilization process.
“Just like green tea, bamboo contains an element that can prevent cancer — and enhance green tea’s anti-cancer effects — if it is used as fertilizer for the tea.”
Yashi, who collects the dung at a panda breeding center in southern China, said he hopes the tea will snag him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records once it’s released.
But he’s not the first to use feces to fertilize tea plants. Kopi Luwak, the world’s most expensive coffee, is made from droppings of the Indonesian civet cat.

The Most Expensive Coffee in The World

The Most Expensive Coffee in The World is made from animale poop Yes, do not be surprised

\\
Kopi luwak, the world’s most expensive coffee, is made from a certain variety of wild red coffee beans but only after it has passed through the digestive track of the Asian Palm Civet. The berries which grow in Indonesia and Philippines are eaten by the civet, a weasel-like animal, who likes the berries for their flesh. But they can't digest the inner beans which come out as poop.

These droppings are gathered, thoroughly washed, sun dried, roasted and when brewed, they yield an aromatic coffee. Apparently, the beans after having spend about a day and a half in the civet's digestive tract pick up a unique flavor. Drinkers swear it tastes like caramel and chocolate!
Kopi luwak sells for between US $100 and $600 per pound. In coffee shops around Japan and the US it sells for about $30 a cup. In 2008, a department store in London began selling a blend of Kopi luwak and Blue Mountain called Caffe Raro for £50 (US $99.00) a cup.

World's Oldest Diamonds

The world's oldest known diamonds have been found encased in a crystal in Western Australia, scientists say
The minuscule gemstones are 4.25 billion years old and could provide a rare glimpse into Earth's distant geologic past.

"No one would have really predicted that diamonds were in there," said Simon Wilde, a geologist at Curtin University of Technology in Perth and a member of the team that made the find.
The discovery suggests that seas of molten lava that covered primordial Earth had cooled down faster than had previously been thought.
The find also suggests that plate tectonics, the process by which large shelves of Earth's crust move to create geologic activity, may have already been underway.
"A diamond would never form in a magma ocean," said Thorsten Geisler, a geologist at Westfalische Wilhelms-Universitaet in Munster, Germany, and another team member.
The discovery is a shocker to geologists, many of whom believed that the molten lava and volcanic activity persisted on Earth's surface for at least 500 million years after our planet formed some 4.5 billion years ago.
Diamonds Are Forever
The tiny diamonds were found trapped in zircon, a rare and exceptionally stable mineral that forms under temperatures between 1,112 and 1,652 Fahrenheit (600 and 900 degrees Celsius).
Once zircon has crystallized it may be moved around by geological processes, but its chemical makeup and structure don't change. This makes its age easy to pinpoint.
Zircon crystals represent the only record of the first 400 million to 500 million years of Earth's history, Wilde explained.
By analyzing a crystal's trace minerals and structure, geologists can deduce the conditions under which it formed.

the most expensive cigar in the world

Gurkha is a brand of hand-rolled cigars, known for the manufacture of premium products using unique and artistically-oriented packaging. The company is known as the maker of the His Majesty's Reserve cigar, a limited-production cigar infused with rare cognac, whose price of $15,000 per box makes it the most expensive cigar in the world.

The Gurkha Cigar Company was founded by Kaizad Hansotia, a man born in India and raised in Hong Kong and London. His family was well established in the field of custom watch design, specializing in the production of luxury timepieces. Late in the 1980s, Hansotia dropped out of Miami Dade College to enter the family business.

While on vacation in Goa, India in 1989, Hansotia met a Portuguese man making and selling cigars. Hansotia decided to buy the man's entire stock and brand name — Gurkha — on the spot so as to have a unique gift to hand out to his customers of the watch company. The price of the entire purchase of the Gurkha name and inventory was just $149.
One box of these early Gurkha cigars was sent to a friend who owned a duty-free shop who was so impressed that he decided that he wanted to obtain more. Hansotia spotted a new business opportunity and was introduced to cigarmaker Charlie Toraño by a mutual friend.
